Electronic Prescribing

We are pleased to announce that from 6th August 2026 we will be introducing Electronic Prescribing (EPS) at both North Cornelly and Stormybrook Surgery.

This new system allows your prescriptions to be sent securely and directly to your nominated pharmacy, meaning no more paper prescriptions and fewer trips to the surgery.

Here’s how it works:
✔ You nominate a preferred pharmacy
✔ Your prescription is sent electronically by the surgery (Normal timescales will apply)
✔ Your medication will be ready for collection from your chosen pharmacy

Want to sign up?
It’s easy — you can:

  • Complete a Nomination Form – available here on our website or from reception at either surgery. This can be sent via email to Admin.NorthCornelly@wales.nhs.uk or dropped to either surgery.
  • Speak to a member of our team, who will be happy to help you register.

Good to know:

  • Signing up for Electronic Prescribing is completely optional. If you choose not to use the service, you can continue to order and collect your paper prescriptions from the surgery as you do now. There will be no change to the way your prescriptions are issued unless you decide to register for EPS.
  • Ordering your prescriptions will stay the same. You can continue to request repeat prescriptions via the NHS App, through the enquiries email (Enquiries.W95034@wales.nhs.uk), or by leaving a written request with reception.
  •  If you have already nominated a pharmacy directly with your pharmacy, you should not need to contact the surgery as well. We will be able to see your nomination will be available to us when EPS goes live.
  • You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time by contacting either the surgery or your pharmacy.
  • If you already have a 'preferred' pharmacy recorded with the surgery (meaning we currently send your paper prescription directly to that pharmacy), this is not the same as a nomination. To use Electronic Prescribing, you will still need to nominate a pharmacy.

Prescription Backing Slips

Please be advised that since migrating to our new clinical system, there have been some changes to how repeat medications appear on prescription backing slips.

From now on, only the repeat medications issued on each occasion will be shown on the backing slip. This does not mean that any items have been removed from your repeat prescription.

This change is being made to reduce paper usage, with the aim of moving towards a paperless system in the future.

Patients are advised to keep a record of their current medications, so they know which items to request when ordering repeats.
